PRESS: Russian distributor wants to buy Mothercare assets in Russia

MOSCOW, Oct 26 (PRIME) -- Russian clothes distributor Jamilco plans to buy the Russian business of British children's clothing and goods chain Mothercare, which announced its withdrawal from the Russian market, business daily Kommersant reported on Wednesday citing three sources in the retail market.

According to the sources, the distributor is in talks with the Kuwaiti company Alshaya Group, which owns the master franchise brand Mothercare in Russia.

According to one of the daily's interlocutors, as a part of the deal Jamilco will receive the lease rights for the stores of the Mothercare brand, as well as unsold goods. At the same time the stores will operate under a different brand.
